In a thrilling conclusion to the Laver Cup, 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, a four-time major champion, defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets, securing Europe’s victory 13-11 and their first title since 2021.

Starting the day trailing 8-4, Europe closed the gap with a doubles win by Alcaraz and Casper Ruud over Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, 6-2, 7-6 (6). However, Shelton’s win against Daniil Medvedev 6-7 (6), 7-5, 10-7 gave Team World an 11-7 lead.

As Team World seemed on the verge of a third consecutive title, Tiafoe was ahead against Alexander Zverev. Zverev staged a remarkable comeback, winning 6-7 (5), 7-5, 10-5, setting the stage for the final match.

In the decisive singles clash, Alcaraz’s victory over Fritz 6-2, 7-5 ignited celebrations for Team Europe, marking a dramatic turnaround.
