JUST IN: Oliver Barker Vormawor granted bail in sum of GHC 20,000

His previous bail applications, since his prosecution, have been denied by both the Accra High Court and the Circuit Court.

The convener for Fix the Country, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has been granted bail in tune of ¢20,000 with two sureties, after three unsuccessful attempts.

Oliver was arrested during a demonstration aimed at mounting pressure on the government to roll out some drastic measures against illegal mining, locally known as galamsey, a menace which is causing destruction two our natural resources.

This led to the arrest, detaintion and prosecution of some peresons who participated in the protest including Ama Govenor and Raphael Williams among others.

His previous bail applications, since his prosecution, have been denied by both the Accra High Court and the Circuit Court.

Reports from the Ghana Police Service indicated that Oliver was arrested on grounds of engaging in unlawful activities during the protest.
