Deputy Minister-designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has assured Parliament’s Appointments Committee of her commitment to actively contribute to the development of a safe, efficient, and inclusive transport system in Ghana.
During her vetting session, the Jomoro MP stated that if approved, she would not serve as a ceremonial figure but would take a hands-on, results-oriented approach to her duties at the Ministry.
“I am ready to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Ministry. I want to ensure that we implement policies that truly improve the performance of the transport sector,” she said.
Ms. Affo-Toffey also highlighted the urgent need to address gender imbalances within the sector, noting the limited presence of women in key roles. She pledged to champion gender equity by pushing for more women to be integrated into technical, operational, and leadership positions across the Ministry and its agencies.
She described gender inclusion as not just a matter of fairness, but a strategic advantage that would contribute to a more dynamic and responsive transport system.
