Ghana’s newly appointed delegation to the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has officially been sworn in, signaling the country’s renewed commitment to continental legislative dialogue and integration.

The swearing-in took place during the fifth Ordinary Session of the Sixth Parliament of PAP in Midrand, South Africa, and was presided over by PAP President Chief Fortune Charumbira.

The delegation includes

  1. Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor (MP for South Dayi and Majority Chief Whip)
  2. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings (MP for Klottey-Korle)
  3. Frank Annoh-Dompreh (MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip)

The three legislators took the oath of office in accordance with PAP protocols and will now join their peers from other African Union (AU) member states to deliberate on key issues including peace and security, climate change, youth empowerment, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)

The appointment of the new delegation has been widely welcomed by stakeholders as a positive step in strengthening Ghana’s influence within the AU and in promoting Africa’s collective agenda.

Ghana has been an active member of the Pan-African Parliament since its inception in 2004. Its representatives have played prominent roles in shaping policy discussions, especially those aligned with the AU’s Agenda 2063 — the continent’s strategic framework for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Headquartered in South Africa, the Pan-African Parliament serves as a consultative and advisory organ of the African Union. It provides a forum for African legislators to advocate for democracy, human rights, economic development, and continental unity.
