The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Tehran, Iran, will officially reopen on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after being temporarily closed for several months.

Operations at the Embassy were suspended on June 16, 2025, as a safety precaution amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The closure aimed to protect embassy personnel during the period of heightened regional instability.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Ministry cited a marked improvement in the security situation in Iran as the reason for the reopening.

“With the security landscape in Iran showing positive developments, the Ministry has resolved to resume the activities of the Ghana Embassy in Tehran starting September 16, 2025,” the statement noted.

The Ministry emphasized its ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of diplomatic staff and the Ghanaian community in Iran. It also pledged to keep a close watch on evolving conditions and provide timely updates as necessary.
