From October 1, 2025, DStv subscribers in Ghana will enjoy up to 50% more value on their current subscriptions. This exciting change comes after an agreement between MultiChoice Africa and the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.
The news was shared by Mr. Samuel Nartey George, the Minister for Communication, at a press briefing in Accra on September 29, 2025. He explained that this decision resulted from discussions with various stakeholders, including the National Communications Authority (NCA), MultiChoice Ghana, and MultiChoice Africa.

What Does This Mean for Subscribers?
Ghanaian DStv customers will receive upgraded service for the same price, meaning they will get more channels and features at no extra cost. The value increase will range from 33% to 50%, depending on the package.
Here’s a breakdown of what will happen:
- Padi package (GH₵59) subscribers will be upgraded to the Access package (GH₵99).
- Access package (GH₵99) subscribers will move to the Family package (GH₵190).
- Family package (GH₵190) subscribers will be upgraded to the Compact package (GH₵380), which includes access to live football matches.
- Compact package (GH₵380) subscribers will be moved to the Compact Plus package (GH₵570).
- Compact Plus package (GH₵570) subscribers will get access to the Premium package (GH₵865), with additional perks like chances to win tickets to English Premier League matches.
Huge Savings on Decoders
In addition to these upgrades, MultiChoice Africa will also offer a 50% discount on Zapper decoders and dish kits for new customers, making it more affordable for everyone to get set up with DStv.
Tackling Piracy
The Ministry also addressed the issue of piracy, particularly the illegal importation of decoders from Nigeria, which has been a major concern. This illegal trade not only deprives the government of revenue but also affects the quality of service customers receive.
To combat this, the Ministry is creating a multi-agency working group. This team will include representatives from the Ministry, NCA, Cyber Security Authority, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Police Service, MultiChoice, and other relevant stakeholders.
A Big Win for Ghanaian Subscribers
Mr. George mentioned that when he first began discussions, he requested a 30% increase in value for DStv customers. However, the final agreement surpassed expectations, with subscribers set to enjoy an increase of at least 33%, and in some cases, up to 50% more value.
A follow-up meeting will take place in three months to evaluate how the new changes are working and assess their impact.
