Ghana recorded 112,000 passenger arrivals in August 2025, marking one of the strongest performances for the country’s travel and tourism sector in recent months and underscoring its continued post-pandemic recovery.

The figure, released through the High-Frequency Economic Indicators, reflects sustained momentum in both business and leisure travel, despite persistent global economic headwinds.

Monthly arrivals have consistently remained above the 100,000 mark throughout the year, affirming Ghana’s rising status as a regional hub for conferences, tourism, and investment in West Africa.

August’s robust performance is especially noteworthy given increased competition from neighbouring countries, many of which are aggressively marketing themselves as tourist destinations.

Ghana’s resilience, however, has been supported by enhanced flight connectivity, government-led promotional campaigns, and strategic support for the tourism value chain.

With the final quarter of the year approaching—traditionally a peak period for global travel—authorities are optimistic that passenger arrivals will accelerate further.

The steady inflow is expected to boost key sectors such as hospitality, retail, and transport, which play crucial roles in job creation and broader economic diversification.

Experts note that sustaining this momentum will require continued investment in tourism infrastructure, streamlined visa processes, and improved security measures to attract and retain high-value international visitors.

Ghana’s tourism revival comes at a time when global travel is steadily recovering, positioning the country to capitalise on rising demand while enhancing its reputation as a preferred destination in Africa.
