Ghana has moved up in the latest FIFA rankings, marking their first upward movement since July 2024, when they advanced from 64th to 60th place.

The Black Stars now occupy the 76th position globally, improving from their previous 77th spot, which they had held since November 2024.

This positive change comes on the back of Ghana’s strong start to the 2025 calendar during the last international break, where they secured crucial victories over Chad and Madagascar in Matchdays 5 and 6 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

As a result of this success, Ghana has moved ahead of Israel, who have dropped two places in the rankings.

However, despite the improvement on the global stage, Ghana’s position in the African rankings remains the same, as they continue to sit 14th on the continent.

Head coach Otto Addo will be aiming to further enhance the team’s standing when they return to action later this year.

Ghana is scheduled to participate in a four-nation tournament in June before facing Chad and Mali in Matchdays 7 and 8 of the World Cup Qualifiers in September.

Ghana’s rise in the latest FIFA rankings reflects the team’s positive momentum following their recent victories in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

While they have improved their global standing, they remain 14th in Africa.

With upcoming fixtures and a four-nation tournament ahead, Head Coach Otto Addo will be focused on further advancing the team’s ranking as they continue their World Cup qualification journey later this year.
