Austria secured an emphatic and commanding 3-1 victory over Poland in their second group match in the ongoing UEFA European Championship.
Austria had a fantastic start with Phillipp Mwene providing a cross for Gernot Trauner to score a powerful header.
Despite Freiburg defender Philipp Lienhart’s efforts to stop Piotr Zieliński from equalizing, Krzysztof Piątek managed to score after Jan Bednarek’s initial shot was blocked.
The game was even at halftime, with Patrick Pentz making a good save from Zieliński.
Austria took the lead with a great finish by Baumgartner, and Marko Arnautović sealed the victory with a penalty kick, giving Austria a good chance to advance to the next round, while Poland’s stay in the competition is over.
