Eilish McColgan, a European and Commonwealth medallist, is set to make her debut at the London Marathon this year, taking on the full 26.2-mile distance for the first time.
The 34-year-old athlete has previously excelled in shorter distances, including 3,000m, 5,000m, 10,000m, and half marathons.
Her participation in the London Marathon follows in the footsteps of her mother, Liz McColgan, who won the iconic race in 1996.
Initially scheduled to compete in the 2023 event, Eilish’s plans were delayed due to injuries. Now fully recovered, she is eager to embrace the challenge and begin a new phase of her career, transitioning to long-distance road running.
Having received strong support during previous London races, McColgan looks forward to experiencing the electric atmosphere of the London Marathon and showcasing her potential over the prestigious distance.
