The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo, has filed a formal criminal complaint against Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

This follows from allegations that the MP distributed food during the special voting event on December 2 at the Legon Police Station polling center.

The act, which has since gone viral, has sparked debates over voter influence and the integrity of the electoral process, as she was seen giving food packages to voters in line.

In response to the controversy, Lydia Alhassan defended her actions, insisting that her intentions were purely compassionate.
