Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Intelligence, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has called on Ghanaian youth to remain vigilant in safeguarding the nation’s peace, unity, and stability.

Speaking at the National Youth Conference organized by the National Youth Authority (NYA), Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings stressed that Ghana’s peaceful environment is a privilege that should not be taken for granted.

“You are in Ghana today, and I can assure you, you have no idea what it means to be in a country where there is war. Let us not take it for granted,” she told participants. “The peace we enjoy is what allows us to sit together in this room today, from different ethnic groups, different regions, in harmony.”

She warned young people not to be swayed by reckless political, religious, or ethnic rhetoric, saying no leader — political, religious, traditional, or academic — should be allowed to lead them into conflict or division.

“Do not allow people making reckless statements to lead you into disrupting a potential future that you have,” she said.

Highlighting Ghana’s ethnic and cultural diversity, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings urged the youth to see diversity as a strength rather than a fault line.

“This country can only develop if we recognise that in our diversity is strength. Let us tap into that and continue to be the shining Black Star of this continent,” she emphasized.

The National Youth Conference brought together young leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the country to explore the role of the youth in Ghana’s democratic and developmental journey.

In closing, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings delivered a passionate rallying cry:

“Let us make sure that we continue to be the shining Black Star of this continent that other countries will learn from. God bless you.”

Her remarks come amid growing concerns over polarizing rhetoric in Ghana’s political landscape and the need to reinforce national cohesion ahead of future electoral cycles.
