Dele Alli, the former Premier League midfielder, has signed a contract with Italian Serie A club Como, extending until 2026.

The agreement includes an option for a one-year extension, marking a new chapter in Alli’s career following a challenging period of injuries and setbacks.

Since December, the 28-year-old has been recovering from a long-term injury, and Como allowed him to train with the squad during this time.

Como stated that there would be no immediate performance expectations, but the club was optimistic about his eventual contributions both on the pitch and in mentoring younger players.

Alli was seen watching Como’s Serie A win over Roma in December, and head coach Cesc Fàbregas noted that the player would train with the team after Christmas to regain his fitness.

However, Como has now decided to make Alli’s move permanent, demonstrating their belief in his ability to rediscover his best form.

Fàbregas expressed excitement about Alli’s arrival, highlighting the value of his experience and leadership qualities for the squad.

Alli’s last competitive appearance came in February 2023 while on loan at Turkish club Besiktas, and he had not featured for Everton since August 2022.

After his contract with the Merseyside club ended in July, he continued rehabilitation at Everton’s facilities, but in December, he confirmed his departure from the club, acknowledging that things had not gone as hoped during his time there.

Now, at Como, Alli has the opportunity to rebuild his career and contribute to a squad currently sitting in 17th place in Serie A.

This move offers him the chance to regain his form and play a key role in Como’s future successes.
