The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has issued a strong warning to members of the Ghana Armed Forces, cautioning them against providing security or guard services to individuals not legally authorized to receive such protection.

Speaking during a working visit to the Eastern Naval Command under the One Garrison in Tema on Thursday, July 17, Dr. Boamah emphasized the importance of upholding the highest standards of discipline and professionalism within the military.

“We expect a very high degree of discipline and professionalism from the Ghana Armed Forces, and we cannot compromise. This discipline also means not providing guard duties for individuals who are not permitted,” the Minister stressed.

He stated unequivocally that any personnel found engaging in such unauthorized deployments would face disciplinary action, along with those who ordered them to do so.

“Those who provide the guard duties will be dealt with. Those who deployed them to provide the guard duties will also be dealt with,” Dr. Boamah cautioned.

The Defence Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces through increased investment and logistical support. He revealed that the government, under President John Mahama, has earmarked up to $1 billion to enhance the operational capacity of the military.

“We are confident that with your expertise, dedication, and training, and President Mahama’s vision of equipping the Ghana Armed Forces with up to $1 billion, we will be able to keep our nation safe,” he said.
