Anthony Joshua’s career received a timely boost as promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed AJ’s intention to exercise a rematch clause against Daniel Dubois.
Joshua suffered a crushing five-round loss to Dubois at Wembley, shattering his dreams of becoming the sixth-ever three-time heavyweight champion.
AJ has a history of avenging losses, quickly overcoming Andy Ruiz in 2019 and pushing pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk to the distance twice.
Hearn in an interview after the fight said : “Anthony Joshua will exercise the rematch clause, that’s a given. He’ll need a rest, but it’s a dangerous fight. Dubois is growing in confidence, but AJ believes he can hurt him, beat him.”
Rival promoter Frank Warren initially stated the winner would face Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk, but Hearn’s revelation takes precedence.
