Akufo-Addo Pledges Free and Fair 2024 Elections at UN General Assembly

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the global community that Ghana’s upcoming 2024 general elections will be conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, the President reiterated the nation’s dedication to democratic principles and the rule of law, underscoring the measures being implemented to protect the integrity of the electoral process.

“As my presidency draws to a close, I want to assure this assembly that the upcoming 2024 elections in Ghana will be free, fair, and transparent,” President Akufo-Addo affirmed.

Highlighting the deep-rooted democratic values of the Ghanaian people, he added, “Ghanaians have demonstrated time and again in the last three decades their strong attachment to democracy, which they will not permit to be undermined.”

The President also noted that Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), supported by the nation’s security services, is fully prepared to uphold the democratic process, ensuring that “the will of the Ghanaian people is well respected.
