The count down to the most anticipated day in Ghana has officially began. With 99 days to the general elections, Ghana is gearing up to elect her presidential and parliamentary leaders.

Scheduled for December 7th, the elections will determine the next leaders who will steer the nation’s course for the next four years.

Political parties are ramping up their campaigns, crisscrossing the country in a bid to win the hearts and minds of voters. The two major political forces—the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)—have been particularly visible, making promises, unveiling manifestos and organizing rallies aimed at energizing their support bases.

The stakes are high, as Ghanaians are set to elect the next president and 275 members of parliament, all of whom will play pivotal roles in shaping the nation’s policies on key issues such as the economy, healthcare, education and national security.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has reassured citizens of its readiness to conduct a free, fair and transparent election. Despite the EC’s assurance, debates about the credibility of the voter register and calls for further electoral reforms persist.

The Ghana Police Service has also announced heightened measures to curb any form of electoral violence, emphasizing the importance of national stability during this crucial period.

In the coming weeks, election-related activities are expected to intensify, with media houses focusing on debates, discussions, and analyses of the candidates and their policies. Civil society groups are also stepping up their efforts to promote peaceful elections, voter education, and civic engagement.

With just 99 days to go, the spotlight is on Ghana’s democratic process, as the country once again demonstrates its commitment to upholding the values of democracy, peace and good governance.

The coming days will be decisive and as the countdown continues, all eyes are on Ghana as it gears up for another chapter in its democratic journey.
