Sixty-three (63) Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority side have publicly declared their support for former Vice President and 2028 flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The MPs, representing various constituencies, expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and his commitment to Ghana’s development. Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, October 23, 2025, they emphasised that their endorsement is motivated by the need for continued progress and national unity.

Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, MP for Mampong, told journalists that their support for Dr. Bawumia is rooted in conviction rather than sentiment.

“We have seen his work, his discipline, his resilience, and his readiness to serve,” he said, describing Dr. Bawumia as representing the next chapter of the NPP’s vision—a future built on competence, innovation, unity, and hope.

Ampratwum-Sarpong further highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s ability to unite the party and win the confidence of Ghanaians, asserting that he is the leader who can secure victory for the NPP in 2028 and beyond. He portrayed the former Vice President as a symbol of renewal, breaking barriers and inspiring belief in Ghana’s brightest future.

Addressing NPP delegates nationwide, the MP urged the party to reward loyalty, humility, and hard work, and to embrace a leader who represents both continuity and innovation.

“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is our choice. He has walked the path, carried the burden, and delivered results,” he declared.

The declaration is expected to strengthen Dr. Bawumia’s campaign and consolidate his position as a leading candidate for the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, two MPs opted to remain anonymous.
