The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA ) has commenced an exercise across parts of the Greater Accra Region shutting down 17 unlicensed health centers that operate without valid licenses or defaulted in renewing their license.
This particular exercise occurred on the 7th October 2025.
This exercise is a nationwide campaign to ensure the safety of the general public in accessing quality healthcare services.
According to HeFRA, some health centers have been operating on expired license dating back to 2015
The primary aim of the exercise, according to HeFRA officials, is to ensure the Agency’s commitment in advocating that the system is sanitized and maintained clean for proper transactions of health services in the country.
Speaking to the media, HeFRA Officials, emphasized the importance of renewing health facility licenses stating that “No person shall operate a facility unless the facility is licensed under this Act “.
HeFRA officials warn that the law does not provide room for negotiations hence the need to comply with the directive else face closure.
