In a recent episode of MX24 TV’s Fashion Wednesday, Victorinne Sarr Awuah, founder of Lyvv Cosmetics, revealed her brand’s deep commitment to clean and sustainable beauty practices, emphasizing the power of African natural ingredients.
Speaking with host Diana Edinam Kumbey, Victorinne highlighted the importance of clean beauty in today’s market and her brand’s approach to ingredient selection. “Being a clean brand is very important to me,” she emphasized, before detailing the natural ingredients that form the foundation of their skincare products.
“Today for instance, in our skincare we use ingredients like citrus, lavender, Vitamin E, activated charcoal, jojoba, baobab, moringa,” Victorinne explained. She pointed out that many of these ingredients, though native to Africa, are often undervalued despite their significant skincare benefits.
The brand’s commitment to clean beauty extends beyond just ingredient selection. She stressed that their dedication to clean practices encompasses their entire supply chain, including their farming partners. “Clean because even the farmers, the people we work with they apply those same standards when it comes to the way they work,” she noted.
For Victorinne, the mission of Lyvv Cosmetics goes beyond immediate beauty benefits to consider long-term environmental impact. “For me, it’s not only what you put in your body but also what you do to the environment that you live in,” she shared, adding, “Because we are here, but we have to think about our kids and also our future. What are we leaving for them?”
This forward-thinking approach underscores the brand’s dual commitment to both personal skincare and environmental stewardship. “It’s good to do something good for your skin but also do something good for the environment as well,” she concluded.
