Ghanaian rap sensation, Vincent Kwaku Osei, popularly known as Strongman, has revealed that he’s shifted his focus away from the prestigious Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Despite being nominated in the Best Rapper category for five consecutive years, Strongman has decided not to prioritize these awards anymore due to his consistent losses.
This year, Strongman is nominated again for Best Rapper with his hit song “Dear God.” However, he explained in an interview with Tony Best on Akoma Mmre on Akoma FM that he no longer has high expectations for the awards night.
“This is the sixth time I have been nominated for Best Rapper, and the fifth consecutive time, but it has always ended in disappointment. So, I prefer not to focus on it to avoid further frustration,” Strongman remarked.
Strongman emphasized that his past experiences have led him to redirect his energy towards more significant pursuits.
“I always submit my work for consideration, but I don’t get recognized. Therefore, I need to devote my time and attention to things that make me more relevant and always entertain my fans,” he stated.
For the past four years, Strongman has refrained from posting about his nominations on social media or urging his fans to vote for him. He believes that focusing on his music and other projects will bring him more satisfaction and success.
As Strongman continues to concentrate on his career and fan engagement, music enthusiasts can look forward to another grand music festival. The Premium Awards, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will take place on June 1 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
