The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally referred its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee following allegations of misconduct deemed damaging to the party’s image and unity.

In a petition submitted by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP cited a series of actions by Mr. Baffoe which it described as “unbecoming of a member” and “gravely detrimental to the image, unity, and integrity of the organisation.”

The petition accuses Mr. Baffoe of defaming senior party figure Kennedy Agyapong through derogatory public remarks, including a statement suggesting that “even the elephant has more wisdom than Hon. Agyapong.” The party views such comments as disrespectful and divisive.

Mr. Baffoe is also alleged to have made false claims against the General Secretary, accusing him of concealing a report that purportedly recommended the expulsion of Kennedy Agyapong. The party described these allegations as “false, malicious, and injurious” to both Mr. Kodua and the wider leadership.

In addition, the petition accuses the Bono Regional Chairman of misrepresenting the findings of a disciplinary committee report, thereby breaching confidentiality protocols and undermining the authority of the committee.

The NPP has called on the National Disciplinary Committee to conduct a full and impartial investigation into Mr. Baffoe’s conduct and apply sanctions where appropriate, in accordance with the party’s constitution.

According to the petition, maintaining internal discipline and accountability is “non-negotiable,” and essential to protecting the unity, integrity, and public trust of the party.

“The leadership remains committed to fairness, discipline, and the protection of the Party’s democratic values,” General Secretary Justin Kodua emphasized.

The outcome of the disciplinary proceedings could have significant implications for intra-party relations, especially as the NPP prepares for the next phase of its political calendar.
