The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the formation of an ad hoc committee to oversee the conduct of presidential aspirants, their campaign teams, and supporters in the lead-up to the party’s presidential primaries, scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The decision was reached following a meeting with the aspirants on Thursday, September 11, as part of efforts to ensure a disciplined and respectful campaign process.
In a statement issued Monday by Council Chairman Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, the committee has been tasked with monitoring campaign activities to safeguard the integrity of the internal electoral process.
The committee’s responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the comments, behaviour, and actions of aspirants and their supporters,
- Receiving and reviewing petitions related to hate speech, insults, or abusive language,
- Recommending appropriate sanctions, including disciplinary action, when necessary, to preserve party unity and dignity.

The Council urged full cooperation from all aspirants, campaign teams, and supporters.
Mr. Owusu-Agyemang emphasized that the initiative aims to foster a fair, transparent, and respectful atmosphere consistent with the party’s values and traditions.
“The Party remains committed to conducting a peaceful, respectful, and dignified primary process that strengthens our unity and readiness for the national elections,” the statement concluded.
