President John Dramani Mahama has posthumously promoted three members of the Ghana Air Force who tragically perished in a military helicopter crash on August 6, recognising their commitment and sacrifice to the nation.

Speaking at a solemn interfaith funeral ceremony held at Independence Square on Friday, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces paid tribute to the fallen servicemen, describing their deaths as a profound national loss.

The personnel honoured were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah. Under the president’s directive, Squadron Leader Anala was elevated to the rank of Wing Commander, Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu promoted to Flight Lieutenant, and Sergeant Mensah advanced to Flight Sergeant.

President Mahama praised the officers for their dedication, noting that they “died in the line of duty,” and assured grieving families of the state’s continued support. “We will remember their legacy of service, professionalism, and patriotism,” he stated.

The funeral ceremony brought together high-ranking government officials, military leadership, bereaved families, and citizens from across the country, all gathered to pay their final respects to the fallen heroes.
