A military helicopter has reportedly crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, with initial reports indicating that some individuals on board may have been burnt to death.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, though details remain limited as emergency response teams are currently on their way to the crash site.
In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed that a Z-9 military helicopter went off radar after taking off earlier in the morning en route to Obuasi. Contact with the aircraft was lost shortly after departure.

According to preliminary information, the helicopter was carrying a total of eight individuals—three crew members and five passengers. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those on board.
The GAF stated that efforts are ongoing to locate the aircraft and re-establish communication. Investigations are underway, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
The Ghana Armed Forces and other relevant agencies are coordinating response and recovery efforts.
