Popular Ghanaian actor Koo Fori, known off-screen as Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has entered a not guilty plea in a case involving allegations of defrauding a Ghanaian national residing in the United States.

The veteran entertainer, widely recognized for his role in the television series Efiewura, was arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12.

This follows his arrest by officers from the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9.

Prosecutors accuse Koo Fori of obtaining $50,000 from the complainant—based in California—under the guise of facilitating a credible investment venture.

However, police reports indicate that the actor allegedly failed to follow through on the agreed terms and subsequently became unreachable.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to recover the money, the victim reported the matter to authorities. Investigations revealed that the actor also failed to comply with a court summons dated April 17, 2025, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.

Koo Fori has been formally charged with defrauding under false pretences and has been granted bail set at ₵320,000, with three sureties. The court has adjourned the matter to allow for further proceedings.
