Manchester City have added another weapon to their attack after completing the £65m signing of Iliman Ndiaye. The winger has signed a five-year deal after City agreed to pay Everton £60m up front, with a further £5m available in bonuses.
Ndiaye becomes City’s seventh signing of the summer. His arrival also comes after Tottenham showed interest, but the 25-year-old chose the Premier League champions as he targets the biggest prizes in the game.
“I’ve worked my whole life for an opportunity like this,” Ndiaye said. “City are one of the best clubs in the world and I’ve seen them win everything as I’ve grown up.”
The Senegal international believes his style makes the move a natural fit. He wants to play in an attacking side that keeps the ball on the ground and creates chances, which matches City’s long-standing approach under Pep Guardiola.
“I love to play with the ball on the floor in an attacking team that wants to score as many goals as possible,” Ndiaye added. “That’s why I know this is the perfect fit.”
City football director Hugo Viana also praised Ndiaye’s character and hunger. He said the winger was “very talented” and that his determination to improve was clear from their first conversation.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish is heading in the opposite direction. The England international has returned to Everton on a season-long loan, covering the final year of his City contract.
For City, Ndiaye offers another option in attack and fresh competition for places. For Ndiaye, it is the chance to step onto one of football’s biggest stages and finally write his own chapter.
