Marcus Rashford has completed a surprise loan move to Aston Villa, sealing a deal that runs until the end of the season with an option to buy. The 27-year-old, who has struggled for form at Manchester United this season, now has a chance to reignite his career under Unai Emery at a club pushing for a Champions League spot.
United sources confirm that Villa will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s wages, though no loan fee has been paid. The England international took to Instagram to express his excitement, saying: “I had a few clubs approach me, but Aston Villa was an easy decision. I admire the way they’ve been playing this season and the manager’s ambitions. I just want to play football and can’t wait to get started.”
Rashford’s move follows months of speculation about his future, particularly after being dropped for December’s Manchester derby. Villa, meanwhile, have been active in the January transfer window, bringing in Spanish full-back AndrĂ©s GarcĂa and Netherlands forward Donyell Malen.
However, they have also seen departures, with Jhon Durán joining Al-Nassr for £71m and Diego Carlos heading to Fenerbahçe.
With key injuries mounting, Ollie Watkins limped off last weekend, while Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings remain sidelined, Rashford’s arrival could be a vital boost for Villa’s attacking options as they continue their fight for a top-four finish.
