Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham in a deal worth around £55million, with the Ghana international set to undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of a six-year contract.

After weeks of talks, Spurs have finally struck a deal for Kudus, who had been a top target this summer. The 24-year-old is expected to become Thomas Frank’s first marquee signing since taking over as head coach. Personal terms are already agreed, and the move could be confirmed within days.

Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax last summer and made an immediate impact. He scored five goals and added four assists in 35 Premier League games. While that was a slight dip from his debut campaign, his performances still turned heads across the division.

His ability to play in several positions makes him ideal for Frank’s flexible style. At West Ham, he was often used on the right. For Ghana, he plays centrally as a No 10. Spurs see him as a versatile threat, capable of cutting inside or driving through the middle.

Tottenham had targeted Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo earlier in the window, but both deals failed to materialise. Kudus may not have been first choice, but he is seen as a major upgrade to the squad. Spurs also completed the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern, but the young forward is still a work in progress.

Kudus’ arrival could impact Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski. Johnson was Spurs’ top scorer last season and scored the winner in the Europa League final. Frank, who previously tried to sign him for Brentford, must now decide how to use his new options.

This signing signals Spurs’ intent. With Champions League football back on the agenda, Kudus brings energy, skill, and much-needed depth to an ambitious side.
