Paris Saint-Germain booked a dramatic Club World Cup semifinal spot with a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich, but the night in Atlanta was overshadowed by a harrowing ankle injury to Jamal Musiala and a chaotic finish that saw two PSG players sent off.

With the match finely poised after an end-to-end first half, it was 20-year-old Désiré Doué who broke Bayern hearts. The French midfielder latched onto a João Neves pass in the 78th minute and sent a curling left-footed strike past Manuel Neuer to ignite wild PSG celebrations.

Yet the victory came at a cost. Moments before half-time, Musiala, making his first start of the tournament, was stretchered off after a painful collision with PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian, visibly distraught, turned away as Bayern’s medical team rushed to treat the 22-year-old.

The injury cast a pall over the game, silencing both sets of supporters as players returned to the dressing room. Donnarumma was booed relentlessly after the restart, but the incident showed no sign of malice.

PSG, however, nearly lost their grip. Willian Pacho was shown red for a reckless lunge on Leon Goretzka, and Lucas Hernández followed in stoppage time for catching Raphael Guerreiro with an elbow. Bayern pushed desperately, but saw goals from Kane and Upamecano ruled out for offside and a late penalty overturned by VAR.

In the dying moments, Ousmane Dembélé sealed the win on the break, finishing coolly after earlier rattling the crossbar. Neuer had kept Bayern alive with a string of saves, but his efforts weren’t enough to stop PSG’s counterpunch.

The result marks the end of an era for Bayern legend Thomas Müller, who made his final club appearance after 17 years of glittering service. But for PSG, it’s one step closer to another major trophy and a showdown with Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund in East Rutherford awaits.
