AC Milan has announced the departure of manager Stefano Pioli, one year before his contract was set to conclude.

Pioli’s final game in charge will be the upcoming Serie A match against Salernitana.

During Pioli’s tenure since 2019, AC Milan achieved a significant milestone by winning their first Serie A title in 11 years in 2022.

However, their performance dipped in the subsequent season, finishing fourth. Despite this, Pioli retained the trust of the board as Milan reached the Champions League semi-finals, eventually exiting after facing local rivals Inter Milan.

While AC Milan secures a second-place finish in Serie A this season, they lag behind champions Inter by 19 points.

The decision to part ways with Pioli was mutually agreed upon, terminating his contract that was originally slated to end in 2025.

AC Milan expressed gratitude to Pioli, acknowledging his role in revitalizing the club’s status as a prominent force in European football.

Pioli’s departure marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of Serie A success and a strong European presence during his tenure.
