In a heartwarming show of solidarity and service, the Junior Common Room (JCR) of the African Union Hall (Pent Hall)has teamed up with Amadia Wholesale Stores and iSelMedia to make a significant donation to the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs. The gesture forms part of the Havana 2.0 hall week activities, aimed at giving back to the student community through impactful and sustainable initiatives.

The donation, which included bags of rice, Domty juice, and a wide range of essential groceries, was presented to the Dean’s Food Bank, a charitable initiative designed to support students in need on campus. The initiative underscores the JCR’s commitment to student welfare, especially during a time when the rising cost of living has placed many under financial strain.

Receiving the donation, the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Rosina Kyerematen, expressed profound joy and appreciation. She commended the Pent Hall JCR leadership for their proactive and compassionate move, stating that such acts of kindness go a long way in strengthening the bond between student leadership and the wider student body.

“I am deeply touched by this thoughtful initiative. It’s refreshing to see our student leaders take the lead in caring for their peers. I encourage all other student leaders and organizations to emulate this gesture. Let us continue building a culture of empathy, generosity, and community support,” the Dean said.

The collaboration between the JCR, Amadia Wholesale Stores and iSel Media was instrumental in making this donation a success. Their joint effort demonstrates the power of partnership in achieving greater social impact within the university environment.

As part of the larger Havana 2.0 program, the donation reflects the JCR’s renewed focus on student-centered activities that promote well-being, unity, and responsible leadership.
