The press launch for the All Regional Games took place today at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

This event signified the official introduction of the All Regional Games to the public and the media, offering more information on the competition’s structure, the sporting activities involved, and its goal of revitalizing grassroots sports nationwide.

The championship, which includes various sports, aims to revive grassroots sports across all 16 regions of the country.

Sporting events such as soccer, boxing, athletics, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, arm wrestling, para sports, and e-sports are all part of the competition.

Participants in the inaugural edition must be between 18 and 23 years old.

Each region is responsible for holding trials and selecting their top athletes to compete against representatives from other regions.

All athletes involved in the games will have insurance coverage.

At the launch, Asamoah Gyan highlighted that the initiative aims to enhance and nurture football.

The former Black Stars Skipper said, the focus will not be sorely on football but other sporting activities will be included.

He also showed his support and commitment to grassroots sports with All Regional Games initiative.

Tiana Addai, the CEO of the initiative, mentioned that the primary goal was initially to support female athletes but later decided to include male athletes as well.

She emphasized that this isn’t a political agenda but a collective effort, encouraging all Ghanaians to support this initiative.

Here’s the schedule for the All Regional Games:

The Regional tour will take place in 16th May.

On 8th June, there will be community engagement and a clean-up exercise (official launch of All Regional Games) in Kumasi.

Activities at the regional levels will run from June 9th to 30th.

The National Sports Festival is scheduled for November.
