The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed as false media reports alleging that about 60 per cent of applicants who underwent medical screening for military recruitment tested positive for HIV.
In a press release issued by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the GAF described the claims as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard them entirely.

According to the statement, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing and no results have been released or officially declared, contrary to reports circulating in the media.
“The medical process is ongoing and no results have been declared as at now,” the statement stressed.
The Armed Forces further indicated that steps are being taken to identify and trace the originators of the publication, describing it as mischievous, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary public anxiety.
The GAF also cautioned media practitioners—particularly bloggers, vloggers, and other content creators—to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publication to prevent the spread of misinformation.
