Fatimatu Abubakar, the Minister of Information Designate, has embarked on a series of courtesy visits to various media houses in Accra as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements within the media sector.

Commencing on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the visits aim to foster continuous dialogue with the media to address emerging issues in the industry. Leading the delegation was the sector minister-designate herself, Fatimatu Abubakar.

The team’s itinerary included a visit to the EIB Group, known for flagship brands such as GhOne, Starr FM, and Kasapa FM. Additionally, they made stops at Kessben Media, Wontumi Radio, and Movement Television.

During these visits, the Minister Designate commended the management and staff of the media houses for their dedication to professionalism and for utilizing their platforms to engage stakeholders in national discourse. 

She encouraged continued engagement with the government and urged workers to provide feedback on issues of national concern.

Madam Abubakar emphasized the Government’s commitment to ensuring a conducive environment for free and responsible media, while also supporting the enhancement of journalists’ work through capacity-building initiatives.

In interactions with management and staff at the media houses, she advocated for greater collaboration between the media and all other stakeholders, including the government, to deepen the country’s democracy.
