The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has presented a cash amount of fifty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC50,000), as prize package for winning the GJA Journalist of the year award.
Presenting the Awards, the the GJA President commended the Portia Gabor for emerging tops in last year’s GJA Awards maintaining that this would motivate other up and coming females to follow suit.
This is to appreciate you for winning the Journalist of the year Award.
He assured Journalists that the legacy regime which he superintends will continue to seek the welfare of Journalists.
Mr. Dwumfour later emphasized that this year’s awards will be mega and exquisite just like that of the last year.
Receiving the cheque, the reigning GJA Journalists of the year was full of joy and expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the GJA.
“Thank you so much. You may call it a token but this is a huge money”, the TV3 Presenter said.
She dedicated the Awards to those she works behind the scenes with adding that they also deserve commendation.
She also stressed that the “aim is not to break the glass ceiling but put a ladder down for young Journalists to climb”.
Whilst commending the GJA for the strides made within a short time, Portia emphasized the need for Press freedom to be guaranteed in the country.
