The 2025 Flower Community Fair successfully concluded at the University of Ghana, Legon, after bringing together families, students, vendors, and sustainability advocates for three days of hands-on activities and learning.
In his opening address at the start of the event, Dr. Yaw Agyeman Boafo called on Ghanaians to embrace simple, practical green practices capable of transforming small spaces into productive gardens. Speaking on the theme “Green Living Simplified: Transform Your Space into a Garden,” he emphasized that everyday actions such as planting herbs, growing vegetables in containers, composting kitchen waste, and teaching children to care for nature could collectively strengthen communities and improve urban resilience.
Throughout the Fair, attendees took part in demonstrations, expert discussions, school showcases, wellness activities, children’s programs, and a new virtual reality nature experience. The event showcased accessible ways to address rising temperatures, food costs, pollution, and the shrinking availability of green spaces in urban areas.

Dr. Boafo expressed appreciation to partners including SIGRA/Cowater, StarOil Ghana, GAYO, Duraplast, CDKN, Cama Gardens, and Tidy Up 24/7, whose support made the Fair possible. He encouraged participants to continue practicing at least one sustainable habit beyond the event.
As the Fair came to a close, organizers reiterated the event’s central message: Ghana’s journey toward a greener future begins with individual action. “Grow something. Care for something. Change something.”
