The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced the successful completion of a major upgrade to ENI’s gas infrastructure, increasing the country’s gas supply from 245 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) to 270 MMscfd.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 14, 2025, the Ministry described the development as a “significant milestone” in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to ensure a stable, reliable, and sustainable energy supply.
The enhanced gas capacity is expected to strengthen the power sector and fuel broader economic growth by improving energy availability for industries and households.
“This enhancement in gas supply is a significant step towards ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply for the nation,” the Ministry said. “The increased capacity will support the power sector and contribute to the overall economic growth of Ghana.”
The Energy Ministry also expressed gratitude to ENI and key stakeholders across the energy value chain for their collaboration in executing the upgrade, which was described as “critical to Ghana’s energy future.”
The Ministry extended appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the implementation phase of the project. Officials emphasized that public support continues to play a vital role in the country’s energy transformation efforts.
Richmond Rockson, the Ministry’s Head of Communication and Spokesperson, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering consistent and improved power supply across the country.
“Our focus remains on building a resilient, modern energy sector that meets the needs of all Ghanaians,” Rockson stated. “This upgrade is just one of several steps we are taking to ensure energy security and support national development.”
The upgrade comes at a time when Ghana is seeking to diversify its energy mix and invest in infrastructure to meet growing electricity demand.
