President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned the 250-bed Ashanti Regional Hospital and a 50-bed Infectious Disease Centre in Sewua on January 4, 2025.

However, Euro-Jet De-Invest, the contractor, has rejected the commissioning, claiming the project is incomplete and has not been officially handed over to the government due to outstanding payments and contractual violations.

In a statement signed by Group Chairman Said Deraz, Euro-Jet described the commissioning as a breach of contract, emphasizing that “possession of the site remains with the contractor until full payment and proper handover are completed.”

The company added that it was neither consulted nor represented at the event, describing the government’s actions as “illegal and a disregard for contractual agreements.”

Euroget also accused the government of setting a poor precedent and questioned the timing of the commissioning, occurring just days before a power transition.

Euroget has called for an investigation into the government’s actions, urging adherence to legal and contractual obligations to protect the integrity of public projects.

The company reiterated its commitment to completing the hospital to the highest standards but warned it would pursue legal remedies if necessary.
