President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Matilda Asante-Asiedu as Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Her appointment, announced in a letter dated April 28 and signed by Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, was made under Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612).
The move is expected to strengthen the leadership at the central bank amid ongoing economic reforms.
Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu is a Chartered Banker and accomplished corporate leader who has served as the Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC.
She holds an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School (2021) and an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University (2005). Her academic background also includes a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (1997) and a Diploma in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin (2000).
In 2024, she was awarded the Chartered Executive Banker designation by the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu has undertaken several prestigious executive education programmes, including at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford (2023), the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2015), and the Les Aspin Center for Government at Marquette University (2003).
