President John Dramani Mahama and Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected national executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The event will take place at 9:00 AM at the Accra International Conference Centre.
According to a statement from General Secretary-elect Dominic Hlordzi, President Mahama will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while Justice Baffoe-Bonnie will administer the oath of office. Newly elected regional executives will also be sworn in by Justices of the Superior Courts.
The ceremony follows the GJA elections held on June 30, 2025. Ministers of State, MPs, judicial representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps are expected to attend, underscoring the importance of press freedom in Ghana.
Meanwhile, the GJA’s Election Dispute Adjudication Committee (EDAC) has received a petition challenging the Ashanti Region Chairperson election.
As a result, EDAC has requested that the swearing-in of Ashanti Region executives be postponed pending resolution.
EDAC assured members of a fair and transparent process and urged all stakeholders to remain calm and respectful.
