The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has introduced a revised constitution designed to tackle the key issues that contributed to the party’s loss in the 2024 General Elections.

Launching the amended document on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said the changes were crafted after a thorough evaluation of factors such as voter apathy, member neglect, and communication lapses.

According to him, dissatisfaction among former party executives and a breakdown in the party’s communication machinery played major roles in the defeat.

“Many of the issues that culminated in our loss in the 2024 election have been addressed in this amendment,” Frimpong stated. He explained that voter apathy had deepened partly because former executives felt sidelined.

To resolve this, the party has broadened its electoral college to include former district and national executives, giving them full voting rights.

“We all know one of the reasons we did not secure the needed votes was apathy, and this stemmed from neglect of many former executives. With the new constitution, we have expanded our electoral college to give these former leaders voting rights. This is aimed at rebuilding trust and participation within the party,” he said.

Frimpong also noted widespread criticism of the party’s communication efforts, saying that despite significant achievements in government, inconsistent coordination among communication directors weakened the party’s messaging.

He stressed that the revised constitution incorporates lessons from the 2024 defeat and is intended to strengthen the party’s structures, enhance engagement with members, and improve strategic communication as the NPP prepares for future elections.
