The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the commencement of work by its Ad Hoc Committee established to oversee the conduct of the party’s presidential campaigns ahead of the January 31, 2026, primaries.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 9, the Council urged all presidential aspirants, their campaign teams, and party supporters to fully cooperate with the Committee. It emphasized the need for discipline, mutual respect, and issue-based campaigning as the party moves closer to selecting its next presidential candidate.

The Committee, chaired by Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi, has been tasked with monitoring the public actions, statements, and engagements of all presidential hopefuls and their teams. Its mandate is to help preserve internal peace and foster unity within the party during this critical electioneering period.

“All members of the Party, supporters, and the general public are encouraged that if they come across any utterance, conduct, or social media post — by any candidate, spokesperson, or campaign team member — that is deemed offensive, divisive, or capable of inciting disunity within the Party, they should promptly refer the matter to the Committee,” the statement said.

The Council stressed that maintaining party unity is vital, not just for the primaries, but also in preparation for the 2028 general elections.

It urged all aspirants and their supporters to be cautious with their words and actions, noting that the image and cohesion of the party must not be compromised.

“Let us all work together in the spirit of discipline, respect, and solidarity to ensure a peaceful and united NPP ready for victory in 2028,” the Council concluded.
