President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to Muslims across Ghana to continue praying for the nation’s peace and unity, urging them to let their supplications serve as protection against division and instability.

The President’s message was delivered on his behalf by Mohammed Mumuni, a member of the Council of State, during the 15th Annual Night of Power organised by the Muslim Caucus of Parliament.

The event took place on Tuesday, March 10, under the auspices of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and brought together Muslim leaders and faithful for special prayers for the nation.

In the message, President Mahama stressed the importance of continuous prayers for the country, particularly for the protection of its borders, the unity of its citizens, and the stability of its governance as Ghana prepares for future political activities.

He encouraged Muslims to intercede for the nation so that Ghana avoids the divisions that have affected other countries.

The gathering was held under the theme “The Night that Changes Destiny: Ghana’s Prayer for Peace, Progress and Prosperity.” According to the President, the theme reflects the country’s hope for greater harmony and development.

He expressed confidence that divine intervention could help transform the country’s current challenges into opportunities while replacing uncertainty with renewed hope for the future.

President Mahama also urged prayers for peace beyond Ghana’s borders, particularly in the sub-region and the Middle East, warning that ongoing conflicts in those areas could disrupt global supply chains and negatively affect Ghana’s economic progress.

Touching on the welfare of Muslim pilgrims, the President highlighted efforts by his administration to make the pilgrimage to Mecca easier for Ghanaian Muslims. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the Hajj Village project in Accra to facilitate smoother travel arrangements for pilgrims.

During the event, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, spokesperson for the Office of the National Chief Imam, led prayers for the nation and its leadership, including the President, Vice President, Speaker of Parliament, and the Chief Justice.

Over the years, the Annual Night of Power gathering has grown into a notable event in Ghana’s religious calendar, bringing together Muslim leaders and worshippers to pray for the country’s peace, progress, and prosperity.
