Hasaacas Ladies miss out on qualification.
Despite a resounding 6-1 victory over Niger’s AS Garde National, Hasaacas Ladies fell short of qualifying for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League semifinals.
The win came in their final Group B match on Saturday afternoon.
Hasaacas dominated the game with Fatoumata Tamboura scoring the opening goal after 20 minutes.
Grace Animah and Comfort Owusu then added goals in quick succession, putting the Ghanaian side 3-0 ahead. AS Garde National managed to pull one back before halftime.
After the break, Comfort Owusu netted again, restoring Hasaacas’ three-goal lead.
Despite numerous chances to extend their advantage, Hasaacas could not capitalize further. In injury time, Animah and Abigail Sakyiwaa scored to secure a 6-1 victory.
However, the result was not enough for Hasaacas to advance, as they finished on four points, equal with second-placed Omnisports Etincelle, who had a superior goal difference.
Omnisports Etincelle’s progression was secured after their 1-0 defeat of Nigeria’s Edo Queens.
With their Champions League hopes dashed, Hasaacas Ladies will now refocus on domestic competitions.
