Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Ghana’s embassy in Iran will fully reopen on Tuesday, September 16, following a three-month closure due to security concerns.

Speaking during the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Monday, Mr. Ablakwa assured that comprehensive safety measures have been implemented to protect diplomatic personnel.

“I can announce that after three months of closure of our embassy in Iran, we shall fully reopen tomorrow, the 16th of September 2025,” the Minister stated. “Measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety of our diplomatic staff.”

The embassy had been temporarily shut down earlier this year as a precautionary measure amid heightened regional tensions.

The Foreign Minister did not provide specific details about the security risks but emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the protection of its foreign missions.

The reopening marks a return to normal diplomatic operations between Ghana and Iran.
