Ghana has been chosen as the first country to benefit from France’s National Health Platform following high-level talks between President John Dramani Mahama and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
The decision was announced after a bilateral meeting held at the Élysée Palace, where both leaders explored opportunities for cooperation across multiple sectors, including health, agriculture, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and regional security.
The National Health Platform—described as a health compact—is expected to provide support for Ghana’s healthcare system and ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery.
President Mahama welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation to the French government for the partnership, noting its potential to strengthen Ghana’s health sector.
The meeting formed part of the President’s one-day visit to France, during which he also co-chaired the One Health Summit 2026 in Lyon.
President Macron commended Mahama’s role at the summit and acknowledged the significance of the Accra Reset Initiative, which the Ghanaian leader says is contributing to efforts to tackle global health challenges.
In addition to health, discussions also focused on enhancing collaboration in agriculture to boost food production, as well as expanding partnerships in artificial intelligence and maternal healthcare.
