The Western Regional Office of the National Security has uncovered a stockpile of electrical materials in an operation carried out at Kansawurodo, a suburb of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The items were found in a hideout and an uncompleted building suspected to be linked to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The discovery was made following a tip-off and led to the seizure of several valuable electrical components.

Among the items recovered were 46 cable drums, electrical switches, metres, metre cases, numerous iron angle bars, and other essential materials believed to be the property of the ECG.

A National Security operative, Hashim Torkonu, who led the operation, after picking up two suspects for questioning, revealed that the state and the locations where the items were found raise suspicion that the items may be part of the missing ECG materials.

However one Evans Lartey, who is one of the two suspects picked up in connection with the items, said he is a certified ECG contractor.
