A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications team, Godfred Nana Boakye also known as Nana B, has taken a strong swipe at some opposition NDC officials for what he describes as an attempt to justify the recent violence that marred the Ablekuma North Parliamentary rerun on July 11.
Speaking on MX24’s AM CLUB with Miriam Uduack Mensah, he referenced social media commentary from Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George and other NDC memebers expressing shock at the comparison being drawn between the Ablekuma North chaos and the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election incident in 2019.
“Sam George is asking the former Vice President to shut up because something similar happened to him during Ayawaso. That’s very dishonest and disingenuous,” Nana B said.
He questioned why personalities such as Sam George, Joyce Bawah Mogtari and Hanna Bissiw would attempt to defend or rationalize what he describes as “a brutal and shameful attack” on former Fisheries Minister and MP for Awutu Senya East, Hawa Koomson.
“There are videos. There are images. We’ve all seen the assault on our deputy national organiser and the journalists from GHOne and Joy News. Hawa Koomson was on the ground and being stomped on, and Hanna Bissiw says she deserved it? How can anyone justify this?” he quizzed.
Nana B further questioned the relevance of the police investigation, stating that the evidence is clear and available for all to see.
“The police say they’re investigating—but what exactly are they investigating? We’ve all seen the perpetrators in broad daylight,” he added.
Nana Boakye is calling for swift justice and urged political actors to condemn violence regardless of political affiliation.
