English golfer Dale Whitnell achieved an extraordinary feat during the second round of the South Africa Open by recording two holes-in-one.
Whitnell aced the 179-yard second hole and then repeated the feat on the 149-yard twelfth hole at Durban Country Club.
His round started strong with a birdie on the first hole and a perfect seven-iron shot on the second, which led to his first hole-in-one.
He then followed it up with another ace on the 12th, a rare and remarkable achievement in professional golf.
Despite the excitement, Whitnell continued his strong play, following his aces with an eagle.
At one point, he was on track for a stunning 13-under-par 59, but a double bogey on the 16th hole, including an air shot, stopped his momentum.
Whitnell eventually finished the round with a 63, nine strokes better than his level-par 72 on Thursday.
Whitnell, who hails from Essex and is ranked 545th in the world, had never made a hole-in-one in competition before.
The odds of making two aces in a single round are estimated to be 67 million to one, according to the National Hole-in-One Registry.
He is only the second Englishman, after John Hudson in 1971, to accomplish this rare feat in a professional tournament.
